VAT Vendor Search Help

Note: The search functionality caters for two types of users.

A Person that is registered for e-filing - Functionality is available to the person to do a partial search on Trading Name or VAT Number

A Person that is not registered for e-filing � Functionality is available to the person to do an exact search on Trading Name or VAT Number.

Registering for e-filing is free and any person can register for eFiling via the SARS eFiling web site.

VAT Number

A VAT Number is a unique number, which comprises of 10 digits and starts with the number 4. A valid tax invoice must contain the words "tax invoice" and must display the correct VAT Number apart from certain other requirements.

The search only returns a result if an exact match is found.

Trading Name

The Trading Name can fall under the following types and the information required for this search is as follows:-

Person not registered for E-filing

Individual � Type in the SURNAME followed by a space and the INITIAL(S).           

Partnership � Type in the full name of the partnership.  Remember to include all prefixes, punctuation marks and word spaces.

Company � Type in the full name of the company.  Remember to include all prefixes, punctuation marks and word spaces.  Examples:-

  • SARS (Pty) Ltd
  • SARS PTY LTD
  • SARS Proprietary
  • SARS Ltd
  • SARS LIMITED

Close Corporation � Type in the full name of the close corporation.  Remember to include all prefixes, punctuation marks and word spaces.  Examples:-

  • SARS CC
  • SARS Close Corporation

Trust � Type in the full name of the Trust.  Remember to include all prefixes, punctuation marks and word spaces. Examples:-

  • SARS Trust
  • The SARS Trust

The search only returns a result if an exact match was found.

Person registered for E-filing

Individual � Type in the SURNAME followed by a space and the INITIAL(S).

Partnership, Company, Close Corporation, Trust, � Type in the full / partial name.

The search will return all records starting with the entered criteria. Example:

If SAR was entered the system will return all records starting with SAR

Using the Search Functionality

To start the Search a selection must be made between 2 options:-

  • Search using the VAT Number and/or part of the Trading Name

Select the appropriate option.

Search using the VAT Number and/or part of the Trading Name

 

  • Enter the VAT Number and / or Vendor's Trading Name
  • Select Search
  • Depending on user type the system return the results

Display the Results:

  • The numbers in the bottom, right corner indicates that there is more information to display on different pages.
  • Select the number to view more information.
  • The ... (three dots) to view more pages.

Print Option

To print all the results from the search:-

  • Select Print List

To print only the current page:-

  • Select Print Page

To clear all and start with a new Search:-

  • Select New Search

Available to persons that are registered for E-filing.
